Saturday March 20th the St Maarten Yacht Club youth sailing coordinator, Maaike van Mameren, organized the 4th annual Multiclass Regatta this year sponsored by POWERADE. In total there were 20 boats on the water. There were three different types of boats.  Sunfast 20th from Lagoon Sailboat Rentals, Lasers and Optimist. The optimist where divided into two different fleets Gold and Silver. In the Sunfast fleet we had four competitors who gave each other good competition, Robbie Ferron, Nettie v/d Valk, John Gifford and Alex Nebe. In the Laser Fleet we had Harry Antrobus, David de Vries, Jolyon Ferron, Stephane Ferron, Stephen Looser and Tim Rossens. The competion in this fleet was strong and there was allot of energy needed from the adults to keep the youngsters behind. In the optimist Gold fleet Saskia Looser, Alec Scarabelli and Nathan Smith where competing. And in the Optimist Silver Fleet  Bodine Beentjes, Jesse Lake, Johanna Looser, Gaelle Salem, Ferdinand Unser, Bart van Vliet, and Joris Roosens where racing. In total there were 10 races completed during the day. 6 races where completed in the morning before the lunch on Explorer Island. With sandwiches and POWERADE everyone fuelled up for the afternoon. In the afternoon another 4 races where sailed and it was time to head back to the Club. For clean up and prize giving. The race committee for the day where Carry Beyerly, Christiane Unser and Gill Looser, prize giving was done by the Commodore of the club Robbie Ferron with Mr. Jose Brignoni from B&C beverages. Organization of snacks and prizes was done by Petra Gilders. And safety and maintenance was Remy Oomens and Ernst Looser. The results:In the Sunfast fleet Robbie Ferron walked away with first place in second place came Nettie v/d Valk and in third John Gifford. In the Laser fleet David the Vries won first place followed by Jolyon Ferron and Stephen Looser. In the optimist Gold fleet Saskia Looser won first place followed by Alec Scarabelli and Nathan Smith. And in Optimist Silver Ferdinand Unser won the gold but with same amount of points but just one bullet les closely followed by Johanna Looser and in third place Joris Roosens.  The day was a great success thanks to a great sponsor, POWERADE, and allot of great sailing. The organiser was very happy to see more new kids sailing and taking part. And hopes to see more new racers come and compete. Writen by Maaike van MamerenContact: 586 0850Sint Maarten Yacht Club
