CARIBBEAN MULTIHULL CHALLENGE
The third edition of the Caribbean Multihull Challenge will take place in the brilliant waters of an island known for great multihull sailing and great hospitality. St Maarten will host its third annual Caribbean Multihull Challenge on February 5-7, 2021.
The Sint Maarten Yacht Club, organizers of this regatta, are acknowledging the rapid growth in all forms of multihulls; and the technological advances that enable newer boats to be uniquely fast, yet safe and comfortable in all kinds of winds. As was in the last two editions; racing in this highly regarded event will be spirited, competitive, and full of fun surprises. All are welcome!
The Caribbean Multihull Challenge III will embrace the spirit of multihull sailors everywhere -- adventurous and forward looking. The festival-like atmosphere will feature camaraderie and the coming together of all types of multihulls. As in CMC II, there will be a race from the Dutch-side to the French-side of the island incorporating an international feature. And new for 2021 will be the formal introduction of the CMC Multihull Sprint; a three island drag race for Ocean Racers and Ocean Cruisers. High performance multihulls for record setting purposes
“This event will welcome every multihull sailor skippering Gunboats, Lagoons, Leopards, Fountaine Pajot’s, Spronk boats and bare boats. We will welcome - as we did before - top end big custom and production carbon catamarans and trimarans. And we will offer a Pirate Class so charter boats with no official handicaps can race. The whole idea is to offer creative races that will put a smile on every multihull sailor’s face. Combine that with elegant, fun, post racing events; and this will continue to grow as a star on the Caribbean Racing Circuit!” states Steering Committee Chairman, Petro Jonker.
