Updated: Jan 17, 2019
On Saturday 9 February at Buccaneers Beach Bar
The organizers of The Caribbean Multihull Challenge – St Maarten, February 8th, 9th, 10th, 2019 are pulling together a fabulous program with three days of creative, competitive full racing for multihull lovers. In addition, we will have a boat show, food, Mount Gay Rum, dancers, daily prize-giving and to top it all a beach party and official Mount Gay Red Cap event on Saturday night at Buccaneers beach bar featuring beach games, a crab race and the fabulous ‘What the Funk’ band!
Saturday evening, sponsored by Mount Gay, will start of at 4pm at Kimsha Beach with four games for the sailors. After a day of racing, sailors can enjoy a drink in the sun; their feet in the sand, and relaxation while they are enthusiastically throwing themselves at various fun games. Tug of War, Cornhole, Banana Rama and Lime and Spoon Race will be hosted by Mr. London, who knows exactly how to stir up the audience. As it is an official Mount Gay Red Cap event, the Red caps will be handed out to the sailors during the games.
Buccaneers Beach Bar, as host of the event, will be open all day for visitors. From 5pm they will serve their regular menu to the public. From 6:30 the daily prize giving will spectacularly be announced by the 'Flavor dancers'. As Michel Soons, Commodore of Sint Maarten Yacht Club states: 'you can feel the excitement already building up to the 1st annual Caribbean Multihull Challenge. That Saturday will show why a 'Caribbean' regatta is one to remember!'.
What even gives more Caribbean flavor to the Saturday night is the crab race that will be held by Mr. London ‘People will be coming from all over the island just to see the crab race. The crab race is a local tradition on the island. Crabs will be brought from Anguilla especially for this night’. The crab race will be held at 7:30PM at Kimsha Beach.
And to top it all of, we have the band ‘What the Funk’ playing, who will end the night with some groovy music.
The Caribbean Multihull Challenge promises to be a weekend full of multihulls and multifun.
We are confident we can offer a unique event, both on- and off-shore where participants and spectators can enjoy competitive sailing and entertaining events while enjoying the Caribbean vibe.
